Tara Thompson and Sandra Milne, opened Two Wild Sisters, in year 2000. Tara is from Houston Texas, and has lived in Summit County for most of her life, Sandra, is from Great Britain, she migrated to USA some 15 years ago. We both go together in 1996, and decided to make Tara's "American Dream" come true.

Tara has always wanted to have her own retail store in the Rockies, as she was born into retail through the family business in Buena Vista, Colorado. Sandra had a back injury in 1999, and had to re think her career so self employment seemed to be the only answer.

Then we had to choose a name for the store, so, here is a little it of history, Sandra Milne found out that her ancestors had lived in Breckenridge way back in the 1800's and there still stands a "Memorial Park" in Breckenridge, with their names on it, Alice and Eleanor Milne. After some in depth research, Sandra found out that they were sisters, and that Alice was once a teacher in Denver, CO.in the early 1800's. So Sandra and Tara both went to visit the memorial park, only to find out that they had both died in 1860, with no family to inherit their new found fortune of the Rockies. Therefore they left all their estate , to the Town of Breckenridge, which still stands intact to this day. They also were the early founders of what is now known today as the Breckenridge Historical Society.

So, Tara and Sandra were visualizing one day, what must it have been like to live here in Breckenridge in the 1800's. We came to the conclusion, that it must have been pretty "wild". That was it! Why don't we name our store "TWO WILD SISTERS" in memory of the two MILNE sisters from the 1800's. Plus we are both a bit wild ourselves, and both have sisters in our families.

So, TWO WILD SISTERS was created, and then we thought what should we sell? Because, Breckenridge is a Tourist Town, and Excellent Ski Resort, we decided to stock something different other than SKI APPAREL, like most stores in Breckenridge. We decided on Native American Jewelry and very amusing Unique Gifts, Posters, Bev Doolittle Artwork, and much more.
